Have you made a video or read-through tutorial that you would like to see featured on Blackline Comics.com? Would you like to make a video that is featured here? We are now accepting tutorials made by outside sources, but they must strictly follow the guidelines listed below. Before you read this, please understand that we are looking for quality above quantity.
All tutorials submitted must follow these guidelines in order to be accepted:
Read-through tutorials
• must be written in a detailed manner, step-by-step, so that a beginner can follow with ease.
• please use Times New Roman font set to 12 point for easy reading.
• must contain screen shots.
• must include the name of your tutorial and the program or purpose it is meant for in bold at the top of the first page, along with your name and contact information underneath the title.
• must be in compressed PDF format. To do this, create your tutorial in Word. Click on convert to PDF. Open the PDF file using Adobe Acrobat (not Adobe Reader). Click on FILE / REDUCE FILE SIZE. Choose compatible with Adobe 5.0 and higher. Then save your newly reduced PDF. If you do not have Acrobat, you may send the Word document to us through a YSI or RS type download. We will then convert the document to a compressed PDF.
• All tutorials are subject to review and will be published at the discretion of the editorial staff of Blackline comics.
• In exchange for your tutorials being published, creators will receive one week of free advertising for each tutorial that is published.
Video tutorials
We realize that a great amount of effort and creativity goes into creating a video tutorial. However, please make sure you read on before submitting one for our perusal.
Your video must be within context
We won't allow this site to get diluted with off-topic content, even though the topic range here is fairly broad. This doesn't mean that we won't add a new category for your video if we feel we need to, but it must be a natural extension to what we already feature here. In other words, a video on 'How to Score High in Halo 3' will never be accepted, but a video about digital coloring most likely would. Additionally, we must believe that there is some demand for the video you submit, and it must be current. For example, we will not post a video that shows people how to color using photoshop 7.0.
It must meet specific quality standards
• Resolution: The native resolution of your video must be 640 pixels wide.
• Pan and Zoom: You must make good use of panning and zooming so that all aspects of the video can be easily followed.
• Voice Quality: You must have a good speaking voice.
• Flow: The video must flow well, and be complete.
• Outbound Link: We will link to your site, but your site must meet our standards of quality and professionalism.
It must not be (or seem like) an advertisement
We understand that you may be the author of a product that you provide a tutorial for, and that is perfectly fine. However, your video must come across as a HOW TO, not an ad for that product. You should assume that the viewer already has your product and not try to sell to them. This is something that is entirely at our discretion, so just consider that the more 'in your face' it is, the more of a hard sell for your product it is, the more we will be turned off.
You must allow us to do the following:
Add the Blackline Comics Pre-Roll and Post-Roll on the video.
Distribute the video in any form we wish.
Edit the descriptive text you provide with your submission, if necessary.
What we will do for you:
Blackline Comics is a very fast growing site. In only its second week of activity, it served more than 5,000 page views with over 2,300 unique visitors, and is steadily growing at a staggering rate.
This will give you another avenue of exposure. In the video description, we will provide a link to your site, as well as a blurb about your site. We do not require a link back (although it would be nice).
So that is what we require and we look forward to viewing your submissions!! Please submit to
